Protein Visualizer

This protein visualizer is maintained and developed by Seiji and Yuuki Hosokawa. This project is full of features and allows for advanced visualization and manipulation of molecular structures.

Our source code can be found in the footer containing a hyperlink to our GitHub repository.

You can fetch proteins from our list in "Search" or upload your own as a local file. The default representation is currently set to cartoon showing the main backbone atoms of successive residues in unbroken chains which are connected by a smooth trace. Various coloring algorithms can be applied to visualize a specific presentation.

Developing this was great fun and we learned a lot, have a great day!

Every loaded structure can be displayed using a variety of representations that can be combined to create complex molecular views. Multiple representation types are supported:

Cartoon: Secondary structure abstraction
Backbone: Backbone atom trace
Ball & Stick: Cylinders and spheres for bonds and atoms
Line: Simple lines for bonds
Spacefill: Space-filling spheres for atoms
Surface: Displays the molecular surface and may take time to load

The combine styles toggle will allow for simultaneous viewing of more than one representation. The moveable grey textbox presents important information that will not be included in the screenshot.
